Trivia

    Album

  • The film was launched with the title "Shaatir". Its title was changed later on actor Emraan Hashmi's insistence. The film's new title was inspired by another con-artist film, "Mr. Natwarlal" (1979), starring Amitabh Bachchan.[1][2]
  • This was Yuvan Shankar Raja's first full-fledged Hindi film soundtrack. He had previously composed a song for the Hindi film "Striker" (2010). It was director Kunal Deshmukh's first film with a music director other than Pritam. He had wanted Pritam to compose music for this film as well. However, Pritam was on a break at the time and recommended Yuvan Shankar Raja instead.[3][4]
  • The film's premise was inspired by the iconic con-artist film "The Sting" (1973) starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford.[5]

    Song

  • Tere Hoke Rahenge - This version of the song was recorded in the advanced stages of the film's making. Yuvan Shankar Raja had recorded a version of this song sung by Shweta Pandit earlier. However, when director Kunal Deshmukh requested, he agreed to record the song in Arijit Singh's voice as well. The song was recorded in just 45 minutes. Arijit was not feeling well at the time and wanted to move the recording to another date. However, Yuvan felt that the scratch in the singer's voice was working for the song and went ahead with the recording.[6]
