- The story of this movie is believed to be based on the real lives of Hindi cinema's singing stars, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, and the sibling rivalry between them.
- This was Zakir Hussain's second and last Hindi film as a music director. He had collaborated with Ustad Sultan Khan earlier to compose the music for the film "In Custody (Muhafiz)" (1993).[1]

- Baadal Ghumad Badh Aaye (Male) - In an interview in 2018, Sai Paranjpe revealed that it was she who had written the lyrics for this song, not Javed Akhtar who was credited for it. According to her, Javed Akhtar had not made himself available when this song was scheduled to be recorded. As a result, she had to finish writing the lyrics of this song overnight. In the interview, she expressed her displeasure over the fact that Javed Akhtar had not acknowledged her contribution when he had won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics for the film.[2]
