Trivia
- This was director H.L.N. Simha and producer A.V. Meiyappan's remake of their own hit Kannada film "Bedara Kannappa" (1954) starring Rajkumar. The Kannada film was also remade in Telugu as "Kalahasti Mahatyam" (1954). A Telugu film with a similar theme, "Bhakta Kannappa" (1976), was made several years later and dubbed in Hindi and released as "Anokha Shiv Bhakt" (1978).[1]
- The film featured the South Indian actresses Padmini and Pandari Bai. Since Pandari Bai was credited as Padmini in the film "Bahar" (1951), the opening credits of this film displayed descriptors to distinguish between the two actresses - "Travancore Sisters" for Padmini and "Bahar fame Padmini" for Pandari Bai. Padmini and her sisters Lalitha and Ragini were collectively known as Travancore Sisters. Ragini also had a small role in this film.[2]
