Trivia
- This film was inspired by a real-life story of a conman posing as a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer, "raiding" the reputed Tribhovandas Bhimji Zhaveri jewelry shop in Opera House, Mumbai, and making away with about Rs. 30 lakhs worth of jewelry. The film in turn inspired a spate of similar crimes. This was despite the fact that based on the CBI's request the film had included a disclaimer warning the audience of criminals posing as CBI officers.[1][2][3]
- Akshay Kumar charged just half his usual fee for this film. He said that he had done so keeping in mind the film's budget and because the film was important to him.[4]
- Following its box office success, the film was remade in Tamil as "Thaanaa Serndha Koottam" (2018) starring Suriya.
- Anil Kapoor's opening scene in the film "Khel" (1992) was based on the same real-life incident that inspired this film.[5]
