Trivia

    Album

  • This was actress Poonam Dhillon's debut Hindi film.
  • Rishi Kapoor had a fallout with writers Salim - Javed when he refused the role in this film that was eventually played by Sachin. According to the actor, Salim Khan had been furious, confronted him and even threatened to destroy his career when he had declined the role. Rishi Kapoor was also unhappy about a comment he believed Javed Akhtar had made about his father, Raj Kapoor. According to him, Akhtar had alleged that Raj Kapoor had delayed Shailendra's film "Teesri Kasam" (1966) resulting in him incurring huge debts and eventually financial loss when the film failed. In his biography, the actor demanded an apology from Akhtar for insinuating that Raj Kapoor was responsible for Shailendra's death. It appears that Rishi Kapoor and Salim - Javed resolved their differences in later years.[1][MR38]
  • This was Yash Chopra's last film for Gulshan Rai. He had previously directed "Joshila" (1973) and "Deewaar" (1975) for Rai.[2][3]
  • This film was remade in Tamil and Telugu with the same title "Mr. Bharath" (1986). The Tamil film starred Rajinikanth and the Telugu film starred Sobhan Babu.
  • The film's core team was disappointed with it when they saw its preview. When Gulshan Rai asked Salim Khan how the film could be saved, the writer suggested a scene to be added to the film. This was the scene in which Amitabh Bachchan's character asks Shetty's character to vacate a property, leaves and returns with an ambulance, proceeds to beat up Shetty and his goons, and loads them up in the ambulance. Thus, one of the most memorable scenes of this film was added after the film had been shot.[4]
