Trivia

    Album

  • This bilingual film was shot and released in Hindi and Telugu. The Telugu version was titled "Thoofan". There were minor casting differences between the two versions. The film was an adaptation of the path-breaking Hindi film "Zanjeer" (1973) produced and directed by Prakash Mehra, written by Salim - Javed, and starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, and Pran. The film opened with an homage to actor Pran using an image of his character in "Zanjeer" (1973). The film's producers Puneet and Sumeet dedicated the film to their father Prakash Mehra.[1]
  • This was the debut Hindi film of Ram Charan, Telugu film actor and son of the Telugu film superstar Chiranjeevi. His lines in the film were dubbed by voice artist Viraj Adhav.
  • A few months before the release of this film, Sanjay Dutt was convicted in the 1993 Bombay Blasts case and sent to jail for three years. He finished almost all his work for the film before going to jail. However, he could not dub for his lines in the film's climax and a voice artist was brought in to dub them.
  • In a scene involving Teja, played by Prakash Raj, and Mona, played by Mahie Gill, a television is shown playing the corresponding scene in the original "Zanjeer" (1973), featuring Ajit and Bindu.

    Song

  • Mumbai Ke Hero - Director Apoorva Lakhia did not want Ram Charan to perform a song and dance routine in this film keeping in line with Amitabh Bachchan's character in the original film. However, he was advised that this would not be acceptable to the actor's Telugu fans. As a compromise, Lakhia added this song for Ram Charan to dance to in the film's end credits.[2]
  • Title Track (Yeh Raat Nahin Zanjeer Hai) - This song was used in the film's opening credits sequence but not included in its audio release.
