Kamran Ahmed is a musician and singer of Pakistani origin.
He was born in 1982 in Dubai. He taught himself how to play the guitar when he was fourteen years old and started playing for his friends and local bands. After his father passed away, his family moved back to Pakistan in 2001. But Kamran decided to stay back in Dubai.
Kamran met Zeeshan Tahir, a Dubai musician in 2006 who often used to invite him to be part of his musical experiments. He was inspired to write the song “Lambi Judaai”, taking a few lines from a song of the same name sung by the Pakistani singer, Reshma. The song signified Kamran’s own separation from his family. Then, in 2007, he formed the band “82Rockers”, in collaboration with Dubai based Amir Chaudhary, who ran an e-magazine for music called “J4Jumpy.net”. Amir heard this song and offered to release it exclusively on his website. With Amir Choudhary’s promotion this song quickly became very popular. The song was also heard by the Indian film maker, Mahesh Bhatt who requested him to sing the song in his film “Jannat” which was released in 2008. This also marked Kamran’s debut in Bollywood as a playback singer.
His next album “Na Samajhna” was released in 2010.
In 2009, Kamran won the MTV Best Breakthrough Artist Award.
