Kumaar is the stage name of the Bollywood lyricist Rakesh Kumar who hails from Jalandhar, Punjab. He is best known for his lines “Maa Da Ladla Bigad Gaya” from “Dostana” (2008).
Four years after moving to Mumbai, his work was first noticed in 2000 with the song “Ishq Tera Tadpave” from Sukhbir’s album “Tere Naal Nachna”.
“Plan” (2004) with music directors Vishal-Shekhar was his first Bollywood movie and the lines he wrote were “Hota Hai Hota Hai Pyar”. Apart from movies, he has worked on music albums and ad films. He has also worked on Hindi serials like “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.
Few of the movies he has contributed lyrics to include “Ra.One” (2011), “Murder 2” (2011), “Ready” (2011), “Golmaal 3” (2010), “Anjaana Anjaani” (2010), “I Hate Love Storys” (2010), “Tum Mile” (2009) and “Om Shanti Om” (2007). He was nominated as the Best Lyricist at the Radio Mirchi Awards (2009) for songs “Desi Girl” and “Maa Da Laadla Bigad Gaya” from “Dostana” (2008).
