Mili Nair is an upcoming singer, who broke through into the mainstream with her rendition of Amit Trivedi's "Meethi Boliyan" ("Kai Po Che", 2013). Although she comes from a traditional background, she was drawn to Western music from a young age. Mili, who calls Bangalore home, got trained in music from the Trinity School of Music and the Royal School of Music in London.
Her love for jazz music led her to form the Mili Nair Trio. Her best moment came when she performed with Vinny Valentino at the Jazz Music Festival in Jakarta.
Her initiation into Bollywood was a jazz-based cover of "Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera" in the film "Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu" (2011). The piece was small and did not make it to the audio release. It was only the next year that Mili got noticed for her rendition of "Badari Badariya" and "Yatra" for Amit Trivedi's episode of the second season of Coke Studio. Amit liked her voice enough to offer her "Meethi Boliyan", which became a hit.
While her Bollywood career is picking up, Mili Nair continues to sing for ad jingles and performs live. She has also lent her voice to the Tamil films "Raavanan" (2010) and "Maatraan" (2012) and the Telugu film "Puli" (2010).
