This song was a tribute to composer O.P. Nayyar who popularized the tonga rhythm in Hindi film music. In fact, the song situation was inspired by a tonga song by Nayyar - the title song of "Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon" (1963). In the 1963 song, Joy Mukerji's character is disguised as a "tonga wallah" and makes off with the heroine (Asha Parekh) after tricking Rajendra Nath's character into getting off the tonga. In this song, Amir Khan tricks Salman Khan into getting off the tonga and rides away with Raveena Tandon.[1]
