- Imtiaz Ali wanted A.R. Rahman to sing this song. Rahman's style of delivering the high notes in the song was among the key considerations behind the decision. However, the song was entirely in Punjabi, and Rahman's diction in the language wasn't very good. Lyricist Irshad Kamil sent Rahman a recording of the song's lyrics in his voice to help him with his diction. They also met a few times to practice his pronunciation. Finally, Kamil was present when Rahman recorded the song and made corrections when required.[1]
