- A.R. Rahman had composed the song just for him to listen to. When director Ashutosh Gowariker heard it, he wanted to use it in this film. Rahman gave him the song on the condition that the film would treat Khwaja Chishti with respect. The composer had planned to use another singer's voice for the song but sang it himself when the director insisted. The song's lyrics were written by Rahman's spiritual teacher Kashif whose real identity is not known. In fact, the song was initially titled Kashif after him.[1][2]
