This was possibly the only Hindi film song sung by Shankar Singh Raghuvanshi of the Shankar - Jaikishan music director duo. Shankar never publicly acknowledged being the singer of this song. The song was officially credited to Suraj - a name Shankar had used previously to compose the music of the film "Street Singer" (1966). The opening credits and publicity material of "Street Singer" (1966) had described Suraj as "An assistant of Shankar Jaikishan". This inference regarding Suraj's identity was supported by the fact that Shankar was in a relationship with this film's music director Sharda.[1]
