Trivia

    Album

  • This film was launched in the late 1960s. The film was delayed and eventually shelved. With all its songs featuring Yesudas's voice, this was meant to be the singer's debut Hindi film. However, the film's audio records were released only in 1977, years after the film was shelved. Yesudas had already debuted in "Chhoti Si Baat" (1975) by then.[1]
  • Salil Chowdhury had originally planned to use the tune for "Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli" in this film. When the film was delayed, he decided to use the tune in "Anand" (1970) instead.[2][MR10]
  • This film was an adaptation of Badal Sarkar's Bengali play "Ballavpurer Roopkatha".

    Song

  • Ni Sa Ga Ma Pa Ni Sa Re Ga Aa Aa Re Mitwa (Part 1) - Salil Chowdhury had used the tune of this song earlier for a Bengali non-film song of the same title. The original Bengali song was composed and written by Salil Chowdhury in 1962 and sung by Sandhya Mukherjee.[3]
  • Twamasi Mama Bhushanam - The audio records of this film wrongly credited poet Vidyapati, the 14th-century poet known as Maithil Kavi Kokil, as the lyricist of this song. The Sanskrit poem used in this song was, in fact, taken from the epic poem Gita Govinda written by the 12th-century poet Jayadeva.
  • Om Iti Brahma - The verses of this song were taken from the Upanishads.
  • Aashaadhasya Pratham Divase - The lyrics of this song were taken from Kalidas's epic poem "Meghadootam" written in about the 5th century CE.
