Trivia

    Album

  • This was the last film produced by the Bimal Roy Productions banner while Bimal Roy was still alive. The banner produced one last film after Roy's death in 1965 - "Chaitali" (1975) - with his wife Manobina Roy as the producer.[1]
  • This was director S. Khalil's remake of his own Hindi film "Bhaijaan" (1945). "Bhaijaan" also happened to be its working title.[2][MR21]
  • It was during the making of this film that Meena Kumari became close to Gulzar, who was the Chief Assistant Director on it. The lyricist-writer became an integral part of her life from that point on. Meena Kumari's troubled marriage with Kamal Amrohi came apart on the sets of "Pinjre Ke Panchhi" (1966) when her husband's assistant attempted to stop Gulzar from meeting her. When Gulzar turned to film direction with "Mere Apne" (1971), he chose Meena Kumari for the lead role despite her ill health. Upon her death in 1972, it was Gulzar who legally inherited the actress's famous diaries of personal memoirs and poetry.[3][4][MR51]

    Song

  • Mubarak Hai Woh Dil Jisko - This was the only song composed by S.D. Burman which featured the three Mangeshkar sisters, Lata, Asha, and Usha, together. His son R.D Burman also used the three sisters together in just one song - "Dulhan Maike Chali" ("Manoranjan", 1974).[5]
