Trivia

    Album

  • This film was the official remake of the Malayalam film "Katha Parayumpol" (2007), written by Sreenivasan and starring Mammootty and Sreenivasan.
  • The word "barber" in this film's title was removed when hairdressers' associations across the country raised objections about it. While the word "hajjam" was muted in the film's title track, the audio release retained the unedited version.[1]
  • It was reported that Shah Rukh Khan's role in this film had initially been offered to Akshay Kumar, who had not only accepted the role but offered to produce it. Director Priyadarshan had later told him that the film was being cancelled. Akshay was apparently surprised when the film resurfaced with Shah Rukh in the role he had been offered.[2]
  • Lyricist Gulzar had left this film after writing just three songs for it. A disagreement had arisen when Shah Rukh Khan had insisted on using the words "love mera hit hit" in a song, and Gulzar had refused to oblige. When Shah Rukh told Gulzar that he need not change his lyrics but that these words would be included any way, Gulzar decided to walk out of the film.[3]

    Song

  • Marjaani - Workers of Raj Thackeray's political party MNS had protested against this song and asked for its removal from the film. They had claimed that the words "Rab ke hazoor mein kasmein bhi kha li / Duniya ki auni pauni rasmein nibha li" were disrespectful to Prophet Mohammed. Gulzar clarified that the word "hazoor" didn't refer to the Prophet.[4]
  • Khudaya Khair - Reprise - This was the last song sung by Abhijeet for Shah Rukh Khan. Abhijeet later said that he had refused to sing for Shah Rukh after the shabby treatment he had received in Shah Rukh's last two films, "Main Hoon Na" (2004) and "Om Shanti Om" (2007). He took exception to the fact that all the members of the crew except the singers had been listed in the end credits of these films.[5]
