Trivia

    Album

  • This film marked several firsts. It was the first film produced under the banner of Mumtaz Films, the home production house of actor Mehmood. It was the directorial debut of Mehmood's brother-in-law S.A. Akbar, the husband of actress Minoo Mumtaz. Mehmood's brother Usman Ali, who had acted in a few films before, turned producer with this film. The film's story was credited to an idea by Mehmood's father Mumtaz Ali. It is said that the film was adapted from a one-act play written by Mumtaz Ali that Mehmood had performed as a student. Mehmood's son Lucky Ali also made his acting debut in the film as a child artist.[MR9]
  • This was R.D. Burman's debut film as a music director. He had composed music for the film "Raaz" prior to this but it was not released.[MR9]

    Song

  • Ghar Aaja Ghir Aaye Badra Saanwariya - The tune for this song was originally composed by R.D. Burman for the film "Raaz" which was not released.[MR9]
  • Ghar Aaja Ghir Aaye Badra Saanwariya - S.D. Burman and Lata Mangeshkar had stopped working together after a misunderstanding developed between them in the late 1950s. According to R.D. Burman, this song was instrumental in their reconciliation. Lata met the senior Burman at his home when she visited R.D. Burman to rehearse for this song. The two talked and agreed to work together again. "Mora Gora Ang Laile" ("Bandini", 1963) was the first song Lata sang for S.D. Burman after their patch-up.[1][MR21]
  • Matwali Ankhonwale - The music for this song was conceived on the sets of the film "Miya Bibi Razi" (1960) on which R.D. Burman was assisting his father, music director S.D. Burman. Mehmood, who had an acting role in the film, was fascinated by the Flamenco dance he had witnessed during a recent trip abroad and demonstrated it to the unit. R.D. Burman and some others clapped to the dance's rhythm and came up with a tune that was later incorporated into this song.[2]
  • Ilahi Tu Sun Le Hamari Dua - Rafi mimicked a child in the song. For example, he sang the word "hamari" in the song's title as "hamali".
