Trivia

    Album

  • This was the second of the three films directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and featuring Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Sheshadri and Amrish Puri. The other two films were "Ghayal" (1990) and "Ghatak" (1996).[1][2]
  • Two of Sunny Deol's dialogues in this film became very popular and attained cult status. These dialogues are referred to in pop culture as "tareekh pe tareekh" and "dhaai kilo ka haath".
  • While Sunny Deol is famous for his "dhaai kilo ka haath" line in this film, his father Dharmendra first used a similar line in "Seeta Aur Geeta" (1972). Sunny Deol's line in this film was "Yeh dhaai kilo ka haath jab kisi par padta hai toh aadmi uthta nahi, uth jaata hai." and his father's line in "Seeta Aur Geeta" (1972) was "Jis din yeh teen kilo ka haath pad jaayega na, film ke poster ki tarah deewar pe chipakwa doonga."[3]
  • This film was remade in Telugu as "Urmila" (1993) and in Tamil as "Priyanka" (1994).

    Song

  • Bin Saajan Jhoola Jhooloon - Aamir Khan made a cameo appearance in the film for this song.
  • Gawah Hain Chand Tare Gawah Hain - This song seems to be an adaptation of the Tanzanian song "Malaika". "Malaika" has been recorded by many African artists, the most prominent being Miriam Makeba and Fadhili William. The tune of this song had been used by Bappi Lahiri earlier for Runa Laila's "Pukaro" from the non-film album "Superuna" (1983).[4][5]
  • Jab Se Tumko Dekha Hai Sanam - Music director Vidyasagar reused the tune of this song for the Telugu film song "Edho Cheppalanukunna" ("Urmila", 1993).[6]
