Trivia

    Album

  • This film was a remake of the hit Tamil film "Kaakha Kaakha" (2003). However, for some reason, the film credited its writing as "Inspired from" the Tamil film. All Harris Jayaraj compositions in the film were from the Tamil original. Producer Vipul Shah was initially in talks with Gautham Vasudev Menon, the director of the Tamil film, to direct the Hindi remake as well. It appears that Menon was interested in the idea but backed out eventually. The Tamil film was also remade in Telugu as "Garshana" (2006) and in Kannada as "Dandam Dashagunam" (2011).[1]
  • Producer, actor Feroz Khan had originally purchased the rights to remake the Tamil film "Kaakha Kaakha" (2003) in Hindi. He had planned to make the film with his son Fardeen Khan and actress Preity Zinta in lead roles, with Gautam Menon directing the Hindi remake as well. The plan did not materialise and Vipul Shah ended up buying the remake rights from Fardeen Khan after Feroz Khan's death in 2009.[2][3]
  • This was actor Vidyut Jammwal's debut Hindi film. He was picked out of 500 actors who auditioned for the role.[4]
  • This film was followed by a sequel with John Abraham playing the lead role again. John Abraham was also one of the producers of the 2016 sequel. Genelia D'Souza and Raj Babbar, who played key roles in this film, made cameo appearances in the sequel.[5]
