Trivia

    Album

  • This album became famous for its medley song sequence lasting more than ten minutes. The medley included four songs - "Chand Mera Dil Chandni Ho Tum", "Aa Dil Kya Mehfil Hai", "Tum Kya Jaano Mohabbat Kya Hai" and "Mil Gaya Humko Sathi Mil Gaya". Nasir Husain had experimented with this format earlier in "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" (1973) and used it again in the film "Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai" (1981).[1][2]
  • This was the debut Hindi film of actress Kajal Kiran.
  • Kajal Kiran's opening scene in this film had her dancing to the song "Dance Little Lady Dance" (1976) by Tina Charles. Biddu, who composed and produced this song, may have used a portion of it to compose his hit song "Aap Jaisa Koi" ("Qurbani", 1980).[3][4]
  • This was Nasir Husain's last hit film as a director.
  • R.D. Burman had originally composed the tune of the song "Pyar Ke Rang Se" ("Kasme Vaade", 1978) for this film. However, it had remained unused and was later used by him in "Kasme Vaade" (1978). The tune of the song was based on a Pakistani qawwali.[5][MR9]

    Song

  • Chand Mera Dil Chandni Ho Tum - R.D. Burman's tune for this song was adapted from the mukhda of a song he had composed earlier - "Jeena Toh Hai Par Ae Dil Kahan" ("5 Dushman", 1973).[6]
  • Tum Kya Jaano Mohabbat Kya Hai - R.D. Burman developed the title music of "Kaala Sona" (1975) to come up with the tune of this song.[7]
  • Mil Gaya Hum Ko Saathi Mil Gaya - R.D. Burman used the tune of ABBA's "Mamma Mia" (1974) for this song on filmmaker Nasir Husain's insistence. The same tune was used by M.S. Viswanathan for the Tamil film song "Vaanile Medai Amaithu" ("Ninaithale Inikkum", 1979).[8][9][MR9]
  • Bachna Ae Haseeno Lo Main Aa Gaya - The iconic trumpet introduction in this song was played by George Fernandes. Percussionist Homi Mullan played the chanda in this song.[10]
  • Bachna Ae Haseeno Lo Main Aa Gaya - This song gave its title to the film "Bachna Ae Haseeno" (2008) and was adapted by Vishal - Shekhar for its title song. The mukhda of the cover version had the same tune as the horn section of this song. While this song was sung by Kishore Kumar and filmed on Rishi Kapoor, the tribute version was performed by their sons - it was sung by Sumit Kumar and was filmed on Ranbir Kapoor.[11]
  • Bachna Ae Haseeno Lo Main Aa Gaya - Asha Bhosle vocalised a couple of lines in this song but was not credited for it.
  • Kya Hua Tera Wada - The scene in the film preceding this song featured the ABBA song "Honey Honey" (1974).[12]
  • Kya Hua Tera Wada - Mohammed Rafi accomplished the rare feat of winning both the Filmfare Award and the National Film Award for this song. It was reported at the time that he may have gotten an opportunity to sing this song because of the restrictions imposed on Kishore Kumar during the Emergency. The popularity of the song and the awards Rafi won for it rejuvenated his flagging career.[13]
  • Kya Hua Tera Wada - R.D. Burman developed the violin orchestra in the prelude of "Tum Mujhse Roothe Ho" ("Phir Kab Milogi", 1974) to compose the mukhda of this song.[14]
