Trivia

    Album

  • After several back-and-forths between the Censor Board, its chairman and government ministry officials, the censor board had issued the certificate for this film with several cuts. Despite these obstacles, this film was released on schedule. It was alleged that the star of the film Amitabh Bachchan had used his connections with the government of the day to get his film passed by the Censor Board ahead of the similarly themed Rajesh Khanna film "Aaj Kaa M.L.A." (1984).[1][2]
  • This film was a remake of the Kannada film "Chakravyuha" (1983) starring Ambareesh and Ambika. N. Veeraswamy was the producer of both films.
  • Amitabh Bachchan had covered is left hand with a handkerchief or kept it otherwise hidden while shooting for this film as well as for "Sharaabi" (1984). He had done so to cover up a visible injury on his hand at the time - the result of Diwali firecracker accident.[3][4]
  • The title of this film happened to be the name Amitabh Bachchan's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had initially planned on giving him. It was his friend, poet Sumitranandan Pant, who had suggested the name Amitabh. Incidentally, Amitabh was the first person in his family to use the surname Bachchan. "Bachchan" was, in fact, Harivansh Rai's pen name. An opposer of casteism, he had rejected his surname Shrivastava and had decided to use his pen name in its place.
