Trivia

    Album

  • This film was remade in Tamil as "Sandhippu" (1983) and in Telugu as "Trimurtulu" (1987).
  • After the success of "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977), Manmohan Desai had wanted to repeat the trio of Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor for this film. However, he had to settle for Shatrughan Sinha instead of Vinod Khanna since Khanna had plans of moving to the USA to be with his spiritual guru Rajneesh, who was moving his commune from Pune to Oregon.
  • This was the last film in which Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughan Sinha worked together. Many years later, Shatrughan Sinha claimed in his biography, "Anything But Khamosh: The Shatrughan Sinha Biography" (2016), that Amitabh had kept him out of his films. Sinha alleged that Amitabh was insecure about the praise he was getting in the films the two had worked together in.[1]
  • There were no opening or closing credits in this film.
  • The character played by actor Yusuf Khan in this film was named Zebisco. It was as Zebisco in the film "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977) that the actor got his first big acting opportunity.[2]

    Song

  • John Jaani Janardhan - The film sequence of this song was much discussed because of the cameos of several film personalities appearing in it as themselves. These film personalities were Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Randhir Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan, Vijay Arora, Dev Kumar, Mohan Choti, Waheeda Rehman, Mala Sinha, Sharmila Tagore, Simi Garewal, Indrani Mukherjee, Bindu, Komilla Wirk, Prema Narayan and Simple Kapadia. In the song, Raj Kapoor was shown playing a musical instrument that was popularly associated with him - the accordion.
  • Mere Naseeb Mein - This song was originally supposed to be sung by Usha Uthup and she had even rehearsed for it. Eventually, however, the song was given to Lata Mangeshkar.
  • Mere Naseeb Mein - The bass guitar in this song appears to have been sampled from the song "Dragon Attack" (1980) by the British band Queen.[3]
  • Zindagi Imtihan Leti Hai - This song appears to be an adaptation of "Still I'm Sad", originally recorded by The Yardbirds in 1965 and covered later by the likes of Ritchie Blackmore, in 1975, and Boney M, in 1977.[4][5]
  • Rang Jamake Jayenge - Manmohan Desai had gotten Shatrughan Sinha's body double to do the dance steps in this song when he was unable to do it himself. In a TV interview, Rishi Kapoor jokingly complained about the fact that Sinha walked away with all the praise for this song without working for it.[6]
