Trivia

    Album

  • The film's opening credits wrongly listed H.M.V. as the record label while the audio records were actually released by Music India.
  • This film was officially remade into the Hindi film "The Shaukeens" (2014) starring Akshay Kumar. It may also have inspired the Telugu film "Prema Pichollu" (1983) starring Chiranjeevi.[1]
  • This was R.D. Burman and Yogesh's first film in three years. The two were working on the films "Hamaare Tumhare" (1978) and "Alibaba Aur 40 Chor" (1980) when their relationship had soured. The songs of "Hamaare Tumhare" had been recorded and the two were supposed to start work on "Alibaba Aur 40 Chor". One day, as Yogesh entered Burman's music room, the music director's assistant, Sapan Chakraborty, had said something insulting in Bengali about the lyricist to Burman, not knowing that Yogesh understood the language. An aggrieved Yogesh had walked out of the film there and then, and Anand Bakshi had been brought in to replace him. R.D. Burman and Yogesh's relationship had gotten strained after that but the two had eventually made up and continued to work together.[2][3][MR9]

    Song

  • Chalo Haseen Geet Ek Banayein - This was the last Hindi film song sung by actor Ashok Kumar. The male voice in this song was originally recorded by Sapan Chakraborty. Ashok Kumar, who had sung many songs in his heydays, did not want Sapan singing for him and insisted on singing it himself.[MR9]
  • Jab Bhi Koi Kangna Bole - R.D. Burman based this song on the non-film, Bengali song "Nitol Paaye Rinik Jhinik" composed and sung by his father, S.D. Burman.[4]
