Trivia

    Album

  • The film opened with a dedication to filmmaker Gyan Mukherjee who passed away in 1956.

    Song

  • Chanda Ki Chandni Ka Jadoo - S.D. Burman had used the tune of this song previously in the mukhda of the song "Dene Wala Jab Bhi Deta (Chhappad Phaad Ke Deta Hai)" ("Funtoosh", 1956). This tune was based on the popular jazz standard "St. James Infirmary" popularised by Louis Armstrong. Many years later, S.D. Burman's son R.D. Burman borrowed the same tune for the mukhda of the song "Do Pal Ki Hai Yeh Zindagani" ("Chala Murari Hero Banne", 1977).[1][2][3]
  • Saiyan Kaise Dhaaroon Dheer - A small portion of this song by S.D. Burman bears similarities with a classic he composed seven years later, "Mose Chhal Kiye Jaye" ("Guide", 1965). Parts of this song seem to be derived from another of his songs, "Chupke Chupke Rukte Rukte" ("Paying Guest", 1957).[4][5][MR10]
  • Saiyan Kaise Dhaaroon Dheer - According to journalist Raju Bharatan, S.D. Burman and Lata Mangeshkar had a falling out over this song. Bharatan reported in an article in Filmfare that a miffed Burman stopped working with Lata when he had difficulty getting her commitment to record this song. Lata was on tour and very busy in those days. However, Lata Mangeshkar recounted a different version of events in Nasreen Munni Kabir's book "Lata Mangeshkar in her own voice". According to her, differences developed between them during the making of "Miss India" (1957). Burman had wanted her to re-record a song and had been unhappy when he had gotten the impression that Lata did not want to do so. They eventually resolved their differences and started working together again. "Bandini" (1963) was their first film together after patching up but it was a long time in the making and their songs for "Baat Ek Raat Ki" (1962) and "Dr. Vidya" (1962) were released before it.[6][7][8][9][MR7][MR21]
