This song was adapted from "Hava Nagila", a Hebrew folk song sung at Jewish weddings and bar mitzvahs. The folk song has been performed by many artists, including Harry Belafonte, Connie Francis, Chubby Checker, and Neil Diamond. The phrase "Hava Nagila" itself was used in a previous Bappi Lahiri song "Kase Raho" ("Mulzim", 1988). Usha Khanna also used this tune in the song "Hawa Azeeza Ya Marhaba" ("Main Hoon Alladin", 1965).[1][2][3]
