• This was the remake of a Sai Paranjpye film of the same title released in 1981. According to director David Dhawan, the film was a tribute to actor Ravi Baswani who passed away in 2010. It was reported that Sai Paranjpye wasn't happy that her film was being remade. Interestingly, a digitally remastered version of the original film was re-released by PVR Cinemas on the same date the remake was released.[1][2]
• This was the debut Hindi film of actress Taapsee Pannu.
• Govinda revealed in a TV interview in 2019 that this film was one of the reasons why he fell out with director David Dhawan. According to him, the idea of this film was his and he had discussed it with Dhawan expecting to be cast in it. Govinda felt betrayed when the director went ahead with the film but cast Rishi Kapoor in the role he had seen himself in. Govinda and David Dhawan had worked together in 18 films from 1989 to 2009. Their last film together was "Do Knot Disturb" (2009).[3][4]

• Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota Hai - The hook line of this song was inspired by the Airtel ad jingle "Har ek friend zaroori hota hai" that first aired in 2011. The jingle was written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Ram Sampath.[5]
