Trivia

    Album

  • This was the debut film of actress Shabana Reza. She was credited with her screen name, Neha, which was taken from the name of her character in the film.
  • The film opened with the dedication "For Anupama". In an interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra said that he had made this film for his wife-to-be, Anupama Chopra. The film's heroine was based on Anupama Chopra and the heroine's mother in the film was based on Anupmana Chopra's mother and the writer of this film, Kamna Chandra. Anupama even appeared in one of the frames in the film. In the interview, he called this film the "most expensive love letter ever written". Work on the film started in the early 1990s and Vidhu Vinod and Anupama Chopra got married two years before the release of this film, in 1996.[1]
  • The film's heroine, Neha, was not getting a scene right as she kept raising the wrong hand for it. After many takes, a frustrated Vidhu Vinod Chopra went to her, bit her hand and asked her to raise the hand that pained. He got the shot he wanted right after that.

    Song

  • Chori Chori Jab Nazrein Mili - Anu Malik derived the composition of this hit song's mukhda from the prelude and interludes of a lesser known song he had composed - "Aa Zara Mere Hamnasheen" ("Poonam", 1983).[2]
  • Tera Gussa - The tune of this song's mukhda was based on the popular song "Happy Birthday To You".
