Trivia

    Album

  • Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan's characters in this film were named Chetan Chauhan and Bhagat Bhosle after author Chetan Bhagat. Arjun Rampal's character was named Anthony Gonsalves after the character played by Amitabh Bachchan in "Amar Akbar Anthony" (1977). Amitabh's character in turn had been named after a Hindi film music arranger.[1]
  • The cinema chain Cinemax had filed a stay order on the release of this film. The company alleged that the producers of this film, Sanjay Ahluwalia and Vinay Choksey, had taken Rs. 2 crores from them for a film that never got made. The stay order was sought to put pressure on the producers to return the money. According to Ahluwalia and Choksey, the matter of the Rs. 2 crore transaction between them and Cinemax was already part of an existing legal dispute and had nothing to do with this film. Since the film was released on schedule, it appears that Cinemax's petition was dismissed by the court.[2]
  • There were reports in the media that this film was inspired by the Hollywood comedy "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" (1988). Director David Dhawan categorically denied these allegations.[3]
  • Sanjay Dutt turned producer with this film. It was co-produced under the banner of Sanjay Dutt Productions. Dutt subsequently formed another banner called Sanjay S. Dutt Productions which produced "Prassthanam" (2019). His wife Maanyata was credited as its producer.[4]
  • Kangana Ranaut's involvement in the film was surrounded by controversies. It was reported that she had refused to shoot a scene in a two-piece bikini even though she had agreed to it earlier. It took a lot of convincing on director David Dhawan's part for her to finally agree to do the scene. There were also reports that Ranaut had fallen out with Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan during the film's making, allegedly because of her unprofessional behaviour. The makers of the film were said to have considered filing a complaint against her with the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) for refusing to complete her dubbing unless she was paid an additional Rs. 10 lakhs over her contractual fee of Rs. 80 lakhs. A miffed Sanjay Dutt, who as one of the film's producers, reportedly did not allow Ranaut to be invited for the film's music launch.[5]
