Trivia

    Album

  • Legendary film director, producer, and actor Guru Dutt's younger sister and Kalpana Lajmi's mother, 75-year-old Lalita Lajmi, made her acting debut in this film.
  • Noted artist Samir Mondal made three paintings for Aamir Khan for this film and did not charge anything for them.
  • The concept of this film was developed by Amole Gupte and his wife Deepa Bhatia. Amole was the film's director and it was he who cast most of the actors in the film, Aamir Khan included. Differences developed between Amole and Aamir when the film's shooting started. At that point, the only way to save the film, apparently, was for Amole to step down as director and Aamir to take over the reins. Incidentally, both Aamir and Gupte had begun their careers as actors in the film "Holi" (1984). Gupte went on to make his directorial debut in "Stanley Ka Dabba" (2011).[1][2][3]
  • Aamir Khan's character in this film praised Abhishek Bachchan for overcoming his dyslexia to become a successful actor. Aamir had taken permission from Abhishek to use his photograph in the film and mention his name.[4]
  • The film's title was apparently suggested by actor Salman Khan.[5]
  • After taking a break from films in the early 2000s, Tisca Chopra made a comeback with this film. She had earlier debuted in the film "Aasman Se Gira" (1992) and was credited with her maiden name, Tisca Arora, in the film. However, on the advice of her producer, who thought that the audience may not accept her unusual name, she agreed to be credited as Priya in her first film in a lead role, "Platform" (1993). Throughout the 1990s, she was credited in films as Priya or Priya Arora. When she returned with this film, she was married and reverted to her real name, Tisca Chopra.[6][7][8]
