Trivia
- This was director Suresh Pillai's Hindi remake of his own hit Malayalam film of the same title released in 2011. The film's original screenplay by brothers Bobby and Sanjay was adapted by Suresh Nair for the remake. Its premise was inspired by a real-life incident that happened in Chennai in 2008. The Malayalam film was also remade in Tamil as "Chennaiyil Oru Naal" (2013). A spin-off titled "Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2" (2017) was also released.[1]
- The film was dedicated to the memories of director Rajesh Pillai and actor Jishnu Raghavan who passed away just months before its release in May 2016. Pillai died of liver cirrhosis in February and Jishnu died of cancer in March. This was their only Hindi film.
