Rahul Ram is the bassist for the Indian rock band, Indian Ocean. He joined the cult band in 1991, a year after it was formed. He has been addicted to bass guitar since he was at school in the seventies.
Holder of a civil engineering degree from IIT Kanpur he went to Cornell University in New York for his Phd in Environmental Engineering. As an environmentalist, he is a supporter of the Narmada Bachao Andolan. His earthy and powerful vocals have many takers and being highly opinionated he is the voice of the band.
Other than contributing to music in Hindi films as part of the Indian Ocean band, Rahul has also lent his voice to the songs, “Yaara Maula” and “Raat Ke Musafir” for Anurag Kashyap’s movie “Gulaal” (2009).
