Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first film that Raj Kapoor produced but did not direct. It was the directorial debut of Raja Nawathe, who was an assistant director in his previous films "Aag" (1948), "Barsaat" (1949) and "Awara" (1951).[1][2][3]
  • The film ended in a tragedy in its original release - Raj Kapoor's character died and his love interest, played by Nargis, got married to his friend, played by Pran. However, the audience's response to this climax was so poor that it was reshot and the film was re-released with a happy ending. However, the change didn't do much to improve the film's box office performance.
  • Shankar - Jaikishan developed a theme used in the background score of this film to compose the song "Jaane Kahan Gaye Woh Din" ("Mera Naam Joker", 1970).[4]

    Song

  • Chhoti Si Yeh Zindagani - Playback singer Mukesh not only sang this song but made a cameo appearance in the film to play the tonga driver on whom the song was filmed.
  • Janaaza Dekhne Mera Nikal Aaye - This song was an extension of the song "Aaja Re Ab Mera Dil Pukara" and was part of the film's original tragic climax. It was removed from the film when the climax was changed to a happy one. The song "Maiya Jasoda Ji Tohar Kanhaiya" was added in the new climax.[MR1]
