Trivia

    Album

  • When Madhubala fell seriously ill during the making of "Naughty Boy" (1962), her husband, the film's lead actor Kishore Kumar, had to take time out and the film got stalled for some time. This put filmmaker Shakti Samanta in a spot as he had accumulated a lot of debt to make the film and didn't have the financial means to settle it. Shammi Kapoor, who had worked with Samanta for "Singapore" (1960), stepped in and offered to work for him with payments deferred till the director had settled his debt. Samanta accepted his offer and made this film with him. The film's commercial success helped Shakti Samanta clear his debt and led to a long relationship with Shammi Kapoor which resulted in hit films like "Kashmir Ki Kali" (1964) and "An Evening In Paris" (1967).[1][2][3][4][MR15]
  • The film was remade in Tamil as "Kudiyirundha Koyil" (1968) starring M.G. Ramachandran and in Telugu as "Bhale Thammudu" (1969) starring N.T. Rama Rao. It may also have inspired the Malayalam film "Theekkali" (1981). It was one of the few Hindi films with the same premise involving the hero taking the place of a gangster lookalike to infiltrate a criminal organisation. The films "Mr. India" (1961) and "Don" (1977) also had the same premise.[5][6]

    Song

  • Baar Baar Dekho Hazar Baar Dekho - This song inspired the title of the film "Baar Baar Dekho" (2016). Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif promoted the 2016 film with a Dubsmash of the song.[7][8]
  • Baar Baar Dekho Hazar Baar Dekho - Music director T.V. Raju plagiarised this song for the Telugu film song "Enthavaru Gaani" ("Bhale Thammudu", 1969). The Telugu song was recreated by Sunny MR for the film "Rowdy Fellow" (2014).[9][10]
  • Yamma Yamma Yamma Tu Parwana Main Shamma - The tune of the song's mukhda was taken from the Persian folk song "Mastom Mastom".[11]
  • Kya Teri Mehfil Hai Sanam (Ya Dilruba) - The previous song in the album and this song were part of a two-part track. They appeared in the film one after the other.
  • Kya Teri Mehfil Hai Sanam (Ya Dilruba) - The tune of this song was adapted from the song "Ya Mustafa", which was composed by the Egyptian musician Mohammed Fawzi and popularized by the French version recorded by Bob Azzam in 1960. The same tune was also used by R.D. Burman in the song "Dekhta Hoon Koi Ladki Hasin" ("Sanam Teri Kasam", 1982) and by Nadeem - Shravan in "Ya Dilruba Ya Dilruba" ("Aatish", 1994).[12][13][14]
  • Rangin Baharon Se Hai Gulzar China Town - It appears that the original lyrics of the song's mukhda went "Lakhon Haseenon Se Hai Gulzar". The lyrics may have been changed to "Rangin Baharon Se Hai Gulzar" to comply with the Censor Board's recommendation.
