Trivia

    Album

  • This film featured a safe named Shalimar. This was writer, director Farah Khan's tribute to another heist film - "Shalimar" (1978).[1]
  • Comedian Kiku Sharda spoofed choregrapher Saroj Khan in a scene in this film. Saroj didn't take kindly to the spoof and said that director Farah Khan owed her an apology. She also expressed her unhappiness over Farah's account in some interviews of how she replaced Saroj as the choreographer for "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar" (1992). While Farah attributed Saroj's alleged unprofessionalism to her first major break, Saroj stated that she could not do "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar" (1992) simply because she had become unavailable after the film was delayed.[2]
  • While the film was not well received by critics, it went on to become a big hit. The film's script was included in the Oscar library.[3]
  • The film's background score featured a recreated version of the song "Kung Fu Fighting" (1984). The original song was performed by Carl Douglas and produced by Biddu. The film version was sung by Apeksha Dandekar and Benny Dayal and had additional lyrics by Vishal Dadlani. The song was not part of the audio release.

    Song

  • Lovely (Main Lovely Ho Gayi Yaar) - The tune of this song was adapted from the Punjabi folk song "Mainu Paar Langa De Ve". The Hindi film song "Tera Haath Na Chhodoongi" ("Sheshnaag", 1989) was also adapted from the same folk song.[4]
  • Sharabi - This song was Vishal - Shekhar's re-creation of a song originally produced by the UK-based band RDB, consisting of brothers Manjeet, Surjeet, and Kuldeep Ral. The song's rights were reportedly purchased from Manjeet Ral aka Manj Musik, who sang the song. It was later reported that Manj was no longer part of RDB. He had quit the group after Kuldeep's death in 2012. His brother Surjeet aka Surj had taken over the group then. Surj, RDB, and their label Three Records sent a legal notice to the film's producers demanding that due credit be given to RDB or the song be removed from the film. It appears that the matter was settled out of court.[5][6]
  • Sharabi - This song was used in the film's end credits. As in other Farah Khan films, the song featured the film's cast and crew members on the screen.
