Trivia

    Album

  • A few months after the film's release, T-Series published a music video of a song titled "Masakali 2.0". The video featured the film's lead actors, Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria. The song was a recreated version of the Hindi film song "Masakali" ("Delhi-6", 2009) composed by A.R. Rahman, written by Prasoon Joshi, and sung by Mohit Chauhan. It was recreated by Tanishk Bagchi and sung by Tulsi Kumar and Sachet Tandon. The negative reactions to the song highlighted the growing trend of recreations and its detrimental effect on film music. Without any reference to the recreation, Rahman posted a link to his song on Twitter along with a message "Enjoy the original #Masakali". He further elaborated in an image in the tweet - "No short cuts, properly commissioned, sleepless nights, writes and re-writes. Over 200 musicians, 365 days of creative brainstorming with the aim to produce music that can last generations. A team of a Director, a Composer and a Lyricist supported by actors, dance directors and a relentless film crew.". Prasoon Joshi and Mohit Chauhan also criticised the recreation.[1][2][3]

    Song

  • Ek To Kam Zindagani (Pyar Do Pyar Lo) - This was a recreated version of a song from the film "Janbaaz" (1986). The original song was composed by Kalyanji - Anandji, written by Indeevar, and sung by Sapna Mukherjee. The same song was also recreated by Pritam for the film "Thank You" (2011).[4][5]
  • Kinna Sona Tainu Rab Ne Banaya - According to the song's credits, this was a recreated version of a song composed by Nikhil - Vinay for T-Series' non-film album "Bewafa Sanam Vol. 5" (1994). However, even this song was an uncredited adaptation of a qawwali popularised by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.[6][7]
  • Kinna Sona Tainu Rab Ne Banaya - In June 2021, T-Series published on YouTube a version of this song sung by Atif Aslam. There was outrage on social media against the song for its use of a Pakistani artist. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Cinema Wing asked T-Series to take down the song or face "major action". The label removed the song from their channel and issued an apology for the "mistake".[8]
  • Haiya Ho (Chahe Meri Jaan Tu Le Le) - This was a recreated version of a song from the film "Dayavan" (1988). The original song was composed by Laxmikant - Pyarelal, written by Indeevar, and sung by Sapna Mukherjee and Jolly Mukherjee. The "Dayavan" (1988) song itself was an uncredited adaptation of the Tamil film song "Nila Athu Vanathu Mela" ("Nayakan", 1987) composed and sung by Ilaiyaraaja.[9][10]
  • Peeyu Datt Ke - The tune of the mukhda of this song was adapted from a popular Rajasthani folk song. The same folk song was also used for the songs "Pallu Latke" ("Nauker", 1979) and "Pallo Latke" ("Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana", 2017).[11][12]
  • Peeyu Datt Ke - This song was not part of the film or its original music release. It was published after the film was released and included in later releases of the film's soundtrack album. A promotional music video featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Nushrat Bharucha was released for the song.
