Trivia

    Album

  • This was a sequel to the film "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012). Both films had Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. While "Ek Tha Tiger" (2012) was directed by Kabir Khan, this film had Ali Abbas Zafar at the helm.[1]
  • The film was inspired by the true story of how India, in 2014, secured the release of 46 Indian nurses who had been taken hostage by the terrorist group ISIS in Iraq.[2]
  • Groups representing the Valmiki community protested against Salman Khan for making a disparaging remark about Bhangis while promoting this film. They filed a police complaint against the actor and demanded an apology from him. They also threatened to disrupt the film's screening unless Salman apologised.[3]
  • The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the makers of the Marathi film "Deva" (2017) claimed that Yash Raj Films had blocked all shows in Maharashtra theatres for this film. According to them, this was resulting in Marathi films like "Deva" (2017) not getting enough screens to show their film. MNS demanded that Yash Raj Films not place restrictions on the release of Marathi films. They threatened to disrupt the banner's film shootings in Maharashtra if their demand was not met.[4]
  • The film was banned in Pakistan due to what was considered as its objectionable depiction of the country's intelligence agencies.[5]
  • This was actor Girish Karnad's last Hindi film. He was ailing during its shooting and was seen in it with an oxygen pipe. Karnad passed away in 2019.
