Trivia

    Album

  • The song "Neela Aasman So Gaya" ("Silsila", 1981) was based on a folk-inspired tune Shammi Kapoor had composed and performed with Amitabh Bachchan during the private music sessions they had during the making of this film. Amitabh Bachchan took Shammi Kapoor's permission to use his tune in "Silsila" (1981).[1][MR15]
  • The bus stand that was featured in several scenes in another film by producer B.R. Chopra, "Chhoti Si Baat" (1975), had a large poster of this film on display. The film's lead actor Amitabh Bachchan appeared in "Chhoti Si Baat" (1975) in a cameo role playing himself.[2]
  • The audio records of this film were issued in 1974 but the film was released in 1975.
  • This film may have been inspired by the plot of the film "Bombai Ka Babu" (1960) starring Dev Anand. "Bombai Ka Babu" (1960) itself was probably an adaptation of the short story "A Double-Dyed Deceiver" by O. Henry. The short story had been adapted earlier for the silent crime drama of the same title in 1920.[3]
  • This was the directorial debut of B.R. Chopra's son Ravi Chopra.
  • This film ended Sapan Chakraborty's short stint as a music director in Hindi films. He had started his career as a member of R.D. Burman's team and continued to assist him in the years to come.

    Song

  • Tum Bhi Chalo Hum Bhi Chalen - The tune of this song's mukhda was adapted from the popular jazz standard "Autumn Leaves" or "Les Feuilles Mortes" composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945. The original song has been covered by hundreds of artists over the years, including Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy and Eric Clapton. This tune was previously adapted by Shankar - Jaikishan for the Hindi film song "Jaane Chaman Shola Badan" ("Gumnaam", 1965). Anu Malik also adapted the same tune for "Is Tarah Aashiqi Ka Asar Chhod Jaoonga" ("Imtihan", 1995).[4][5][6]
