Trivia

    Album

  • Amitabh Bachchan was critically injured during a fight sequence with the debutant actor Puneet Issar in this film. It took him about six months to recover from the injury. Shooting for the film resumed only after that. The film's end showed the frame that captured the moment in which Amitabh got hurt.
  • Laxmikant - Pyarelal brought in a new singer, Shabbir Kumar, to replace Kishore Kumar in the songs of this film. The reason for this was apparently a tiff between Kishore Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan which arose when Amitabh refused to play a role in Kishore Kumar's "Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein" (1988).[1]
  • Amitabh Bachchan had asked the Kannada film superstar Rajkumar to make an appearance in this film but the actor had declined his request.[2]
  • Amitabh Bachchan's character was supposed to die in the climax of this film based on the original script. However, Manmohan Desai believed that this climax would not be appropriate considering the recent public reaction over Amitabh's near-fatal injury during the shooting of this film. His character stayed alive in the film's altered climax.
  • The railway station scenes in this film were shot in the Bangalore City railway station.
  • This was the first film in which Manmohan Desai's son Ketan Desai was credited as a producer. It was the first film under the M.K.D. Films banner in which Manmohan Desai was not credited as the producer.
  • There were several parallels between this film and "Allah-Rakha" (1986). The lead characters of both films had the same names. The title "Allah-Rakha" (1986) itself was the name of Amitabh Bachchan's falcon in this film.[3]
  • This film ended Manmohan Desai's nine-year-old partnership with music directors Laxmikant - Pyarelal which began with the film "Roti" (1974). Desai was suffering from chronic back pain in the mid-1980s and had wanted flexibility from Laxmikant - Pyarelal to accommodate his irregular work schedule. Since the duo was very busy at the time and unable to oblige, Desai went ahead with Anu Malik for his last two films as a director - "Mard" (1985) and "Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswathi" (1988).[4][5][6]

    Song

  • Accident Ho Gaya (Alla Rakha) - The man shouting "Allah Rakha" in this song was the film's writer and director, Prayag Raj. He is also known for similar vocalisations in two songs in the film "Junglee" (1961) - "Yahoo! Chaahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe" and "Aai Aai Ya Sukoo Sukoo".[7]
  • Lambuji Lambuji Bolo Tingu Ji - Shabbir Kumar sang for Amitabh Bachchan and Shailendra Singh sang for Rishi Kumar in this song. However, as a result of what was probably a mistake committed during the song's shooting, the singers got swapped for a couple of lines in the first antara.
